1. What are Operating Systems? What are their functions? Describe the Open Systems Interconnection Reference Model (OSI Model) & its seven layers.

2. Define MIS. Describe the function that MIS supports in an organization. What are the various ways of assessing the value of information. Also explain each method briefly.

Answer. Management Information System is a program which brings together data from many departments it serves and gives operations and management with the info they need. Management Information System is created to enhance business system for professionals, provide business information such as budgetary, financial and program performance. MIS assets could be split into 3 vast categories- human, technological, and relationship resources. The MIS must be efficient at developing business relationships, getting the required technologies, and making ready the organization for change….

3. Distinguish between information and knowledge. Develop an information system for human resource department. Explain how a properly developed information system contributes to business development and company profits.

Answer. Knowledge includes facts, beliefs, truths, viewpoints and concepts, judgments and expectations, techniques and know-how. Knowledge is gathered and integrated and held over time to deal with certain situations and problems while Information includes facts and data arranged to explain a specific scenario or condition. We use knowledge to find out what a particular situation means. Knowledge is employed to understand information about the situation and to determine how to deal with it.
